International Flashlights Off Day
The first Wednesday of every month is the International Flashlights Off Day. During the evening from 7:30pm - 8:30pm in your local time zone you are urged to keep your flashlight switch off.
Flashlights consume battery power. Each battery contributes half a tonne of greenhouse gases when it is manufactured. By turning your flashlight off you will save energy and save the planet from the harmful effects of global warming.
Would you prefer millions of Bangladeshi people dying in floods just so you can have a bit of personal safety and visual ability? It is important to think of the consequences of your actions, and the International Flashlights Off Day promotes awareness and understanding of the complex issue of global warming.
As the screenshot shows, it can get a bit dark at times if the flashlight is off, but in this day of need the future of our children depends on people like you to take a simple step such as this. Its a great example of real problems being met with real solutions.
So please encourage your team mates, work mates, family and friends to fight for the planet and press that 'F' button on the first Wednesday evening of every month.
No smoking
Smoking kills. Not the cigarette type, but the smoke grenade type. Smokes are often used in Counter Strike to block the view of the enemy for tactical advantage. But each smoke released up to 200 cubic metres of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide, nitrogen oxides and the highly poisonous dihydrogen monoxide.
All of these gases are contributing factors to lung cancer. The animal population is also affected, particularly with the Yellow Backed Hamster, whose population has had its incidence of asthma rise 65% since smoke grenades were first mass produced in 1929.
There are many alternatives to smoke grenades, the outstanding one being flash grenades. Or you can always use the 'hide behind your team mate strategy' which is often far more effective.
So feel free to light up a cigarette next time you play Counter Strike, but for the sake of the whole damn planet please, PLEASE do not use smoke grenades.
Broken windows
Back in the 1970's there was a huge commotion about global cooling. The earth was headed towards the next ice age and the reason was man and the chemicals we pump into the atmosphere. Well forget about that! Its untrue - lies, lies, and more lies generated by a
stream of anti-corporation and anti-capitalist hippies and perpetuated by a naiive unquestioning public and a bunch of psuedoscience.
The REAL truth is that we have global warming. The reason for this is due to man emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. And there are plenty of scientific-talking people that agree! Dont question the truth - this time its fact.
And one of the big contributers to carbon dioxide emissions are Counter Strike players shooting windows unnecessarily. This releases all the cool air-conditioned air (or the warm heated air) from inside resulting in increased use and power consumption by the air conditioning/heating systems.
Not to mention it lets the flies and mosquitoes in. Is it really necessary to shoot a window? Cant you just knock on the door and when the opposition answers apply a 12 guage shotgun to their face? Think of how your children, and your children's children will be living happily on comfortable planet Earth as you watch the shotgun pellets rip through the cranium of your enemy.
Your good deed for the day has been done.
