- Trip to the snow
Its been over a month now
since I went on a ski trip, and i've been quite lazy in
updating my blog lately!
On the 16th - 19th August,
we had a boys (and one girl!) weekend away to the snow.
I hadn't been to the snow in a number of years, but always
enjoyed it when I went.
So on thursday arvo Rick
came and picked me up, then after stopping to pick up Lyndon
and Harry we started the big drive down. We were to meet
the others down there. As always, the drive is the worst
part of the trip (for me anyway). 6 hours in a car is a
bit much. We took a couple of rest stops but finally arrived
at the Royal Hotel in Cooma where we met up with Quazi,
Valentyn, Andrew, John and Steve.

Outside the Royal Hotel, Cooma with Harry.
After a few drinks and a
well earned dinner we were off to bed.
It was an early start the
next day, and we drove into Jindabyne and picked up all
our ski equipment. We also met up with Mark and Thippy.
After getting our hotel keys, we dumped all our stuff at
our apartment in Jindabyne. It was a pretty nice place:
4 bedrooms, and a large lounge room. Then finally it was
off to the snow.
We decided on Perisher because
we had a few beginners and there is more choice for beginners
at Perisher than at Thredbo. By the time we got there the
road to Perisher was closed off because the car park was
already full. So we were redirected into Smiggin Holes.
For those who haven't been down there, Perisher
Blue is made up of four smaller parks: Perisher Valley,
Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega.

Having a rest on the mountain
And it was off to snowboard
it up! I finally managed to conquer the T-Bar this year...
i've always had problems with it in the past, but no problems
this time around.
The weather was perfect
on the first day, it snowed on the second day where we were
able to get into Perisher Valley itself. And the third day
the weather was back to perfect.

Me pretending to do something. Dont know what though
On the saturday night we
ventured into a local nightclub which was pretty good. Unfortunately
it was an early start the next day so we didnt stay very
late.

The whole gang in the bar next to the nightclub
It was a fun weekend. Everyone
had a good time and I certainly improved on my snowboarding,
despite a couple of big crashes! I look forward to next
year's snow trip if someone manages to organise something.

- City to surf
A few weeks ago I did the
Sun Herald City To Surf. It was a really hot day and I was
not as fit as I was last time.
After struggling for 14km
I ended up with a time of 77 mins exactly. That put me in
7114th place out of about 60,000 entrants. A bit disappointing
since I had managed 72 mins last time, and the cut off time
for the first A group is 75 mins.
So next year i'll be starting
in the second A group. I better train up properly for that
one! :-)
Since that race I have been
doing a 10km jog every week in preparation for the big 21km
new years resolution jog I am going to do. It needs to be
done within the next few weeks because the weather is starting
to get hotter. Wish me luck! :-)
