22-Jun-2007 - The tanks roll in

Last night I was driving along Sydney's Western Distributor and I saw a police vehicle which can only be described as a TANK.

It looked somewhat similar to the picture above, but with something on the roof - either a hatch (like in a tank) or a water turret.

I guess they are getting ready for the APEC summit. Its good to know that it will likely be used against tree hugging leftist protesters who protest before they think :-). They probably need a good wash with the water turret anyway. But it is kind of sad to see Sydney now has enough extremists to require something like this.

15-Jun-2007 - Another pet peeve

I dont know what the hell happened a couple of years ago but since when did this:

Respectable businessman with suitcase

turn into this:

Lazy arse annoying man with trolley

I cant stand those suitcase trolleys that all the businessmen are using these days. What ever happened to CARRYING YOUR GOD DAMN SUITCASE???

Ok i've settled down now. These trolleys always get in the way during peak hour when everyone is bumping into everyone else. I cant count the number of times I've almost tripped over one of these things. And i've seen people walking up cascading staircases with the trolley in hand, then getting to the top of a section, stopping, pulling out the handle, walking 5 or 10 metres until the next bit of stairs, stopping again, picking up their suitcase, and walking up the next bit of stairs. OH MY GOD!

I mean really, is your suitcase THAT heavy?? It slows down everyone in busy train stations and is a safety hazard.

Thats why I will now label everyone who uses these suitcase trolleys....

15-Jun-2007 - Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time

2nd June, 2007

The Gaelic Theatre, 64 Devonshire st, Surry Hills

This was a party to celebrate the old skool type rave tracks that were popular during the mid 90's. I had not been to this venue before and had been looking forward to this party.

It was put on by Powerhouse Productions, which these days has become completely commercial... but they come from a very different background and it was good to see that some of that old vibe is still around.

It was a party where you turned up wearing what you want, danced however you want, and listened to some great old tracks. There was little in the way of shuffling or other 'dance styles', no kids (over 18's party), no lads, no violence - much like it used to be. Not that I dont like todays parties, because I do! But it was just a completely different feel to the party, and the music was awesome.

All the old tunes were played, and poor Nik Fish had a shocker of a set with all the sound equipment stuffing up all over the place. Not to mention his beat mixing all out of sync - maybe the monitor speakers werent working?

All in all a great night... and i'm looking forward to a repeat when the Anthems party comes up soon.
