28-Aug-2007 - APEC countdown

It has begun. The security organisation for APEC is well underway.

I walk through Darling Harbour every day and yesterday saw a crane setting up concrete barriers around the convention centre. By the afternoon they had completed the entire barrier and had erected fencing on top of the barricades.

I should bring my camera because there seems to be something interesting every day! Although i'd be worried that i'd get searched by police if I start taking photos, after all Darling Harbour is a "declared" APEC area - meaning that the police have extra powers over and above their usual powers.

This morning I saw a full sized police bus with metal caging over its windows parked at darling harbour, along with a riot squad vehicle, a police truck and a number of police cars. There were about 30 police officers who looked like they were about to board the bus. If I remember i'll take my camera tomorrow.

Its getting interesting now!

I have seen this stretch hummer a few times now.. pretty funny to see. I wonder what Al Gore would have to say.

Its damn impressive and definately catches the eye of everyone on the street as it drives past.
