Nigerian Scam Finishes
Anyone following the nigerian
scam saga can now read the final
conclusion to the scam.
I have not received anything
from Mr Kalu in the last 48 hours, so its the end of my
little game with him. Its good to know I have at least
wasted some of his time. I have also noticed a number of
people finding this site after searching on Google for
addresses and phrases found in the scam emails. Maybe I
have alerted some real potential victims.
There is a whole website
devoted to playing around with the scammers over at 419Eater.
To sum up the latest round
of emails, I have apparently gone to New Zealand to find
Dr Mboga (the pretend scammer), murdered him in a rage,
and am now residing in a mental hospital. I guess I cant
reply to Mr Kalu from a mental hospital anymore :-)

Peter gets ready to go to the US
Its been 4 and half years
since I joined the company I am working for now. When I
first joined there were only two programmers - Pete and
me.
Since then, Peter has become
the Java developers team leader and the team has grown
to 7 and a half people. Yes Monzur, you are the half ;-).
The product we are working on has come a long way in that
time.
Pete always has something
to say about every political topic known to man. He is
the right-wing nazi of the office so to speak, and he is
the most logical debater in the office so can be very convincing
(except when it comes to religion!). Many heated debates
have occured over the years - everything from the Iraq
war to welfare payments, the environment.. you name it.
Often someone else gets dragged into the conversation and
many times the entire dev area has turned into one big
political debating arena.
So its gonna be a lot quieter
around here now that he is finally leaving the company
after having worked here for 6 years. He is going overseas
to work at Microsoft, on Windows of all things :-). To
celebrate this milestone, a number of the Java guys went
out for dinner and rockclimbing.
We went to Gourmet Pizza
Kitchen at Chatswood and had a bunch of very tasty pizzas.
Of course the appropriately named "Java" pizza
was a must have.

And then it was off to
do some indoor rockclimbing. Some of us had done it before,
but it was Pete's first time. After a quick lesson in using
the ropes we were climbing all over the place. It was lots
of fun, but very tiring on your arms and hands. For someone
who hadnt done it before, Pete was probably the best at
it. Brian did a lot of watching :-).

After we were all exhausted
with tired arms and sore hands, we thought we'd top the
night off with something yummy. So we went over to Bravos
and got ourselves some gelato! Mmmmm.... gelaaaaato!

The next day was Petes
last day at work. Kinda sad to see everything get packed
up. It will be very interesting to see what its like at
Microsofts headquarters in Seattle! I'll have to make sure
I read Cristina and Pete's blog.

Scam.. I won the contract! part 5
There have been a number
of emails between me, Mr Kalu (the scammer) and Dr Mboga
(my fake scammer) this week. I dont want to clutter up
my blog with them all, so you can check
them out here.
I won the contract ;-)
for $5million USD hehehe. Surprise surprise. My last couple
of emails have me enraged with Dr Mboga, and ready to fly
to his hideout in New Zealand :-). I still cant believe
Mr Kalu, the scammer, is still falling for this crap.
My final email will be
sent on Tuesday to this guy. Hopefully it will all be wrapped
up rather nicely ;-)

The scam continues.. part 4
The little game i'm playing
with the Nigerian scammer "Mr Kalu" continues.
The story so far:
1. I get an email from
Mr Kalu saying he wants 1,000,000 tshirts to supply to
Nigerian prisoners and refugees haha!
2. I then exchange a few
emails with him and build up his confidence that I am gullible
and have sent money to Nigerian scammers before.
3. Using a new hotmail
account, I invent a pretend scammer "Dr Mboga" who
emails Mr Kalu angry that he is stealing his business.
Mr Kalu goes on the defensive sending me photos to 'prove'
his legitimacy
and now..
Before I managed to respond
to Mr Kalu's last email he forwards me "Dr Mboga's" email
to prove that Dr Mboga is a criminal...
DEAR MR RAY,
AS I COME BACK FROM THE MINISTRY FOR THE APPLICATION
OF YOUR COMPANY AMOUNG OTHER COMPANIES THAT IS BIDDING
FORT THE TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY O 1 MILLION PCS OF T,SHIRT,IGOT
THIS MAIL FROM THAT CRIMINAL YOU CALLED YOU PARTNER HERE
IN AFRICA.
PLEASE KEEP AWAY FROM HIM,IM USING THE NAME OF GOD IN
TELLING YOU THIS,I DONT NEED YOUR MONEY BUT THE ONLY
THING I NEED IS YOUR INTEREST AND PROTECTION IN THIS

scammer really thinks he's got a live one.. and he is very
very keen.. he sends yet another email before I get a chance
to respond:

Well its time to mess with
this guys head a bit more. So I decide to forward Mr Kalu's
email (which includes Dr Mbogas admission of guilt at the
end) to the pretend "Dr Mboga" outraged that
he has deceived me. Of course Mr Kalu (the real scammer)
is cc'd on the email ;-)

Subject: Our business dealings
Dr Mboga,
I have recently received this email from my legitimate
business partner in Nigeria. It appears you have not
been frank with me on your history and have accused Mr
Kalu of being a criminal to cover your own tracks. I
do not feel I can do business with you any longer and
I would like you to refund the transportation deposit
of $500 I have sent you.
Thanks to Mr Kalu who has opened my eyes to your dealings!
Dr Mboga, I trusted you with my business but it appears
you have deceived me.
Please return my money to the bank account that I have
previously sent you the details of.

Then I logged into "Dr
Mboga's"
hotmail account and sent a reply back. Of course he "accidentally"
hit Reply-All and Mr Kalu is cc'd on the response ;-)

hehehe.. that is the intent I assume. But I will have to
use this deep belief of religion in one of my future emails
to him ;-). He has also mentioned a couple of times to
tell him if I receive anything for the Nigerian Foreign
Ministry hehehehe. And today, I get the funniest email!!
Its a letter from the ministry itself! (another yahoo account).
This time its worded in much better english, so this scammer
is obviously fluent in English.

Hahaha! Its well written,
has my "company details" on it.. so its been
done specifically for me, although probably off a template.
It even has an official seal of the Nigerian Contract Awarding
Committee :-) It has a date written on it in texta so he
must have at least done it up, printed it out, written
on it, then rescanned it. This guy has put a lot of effort
into this!! hahahaha. Ahhh.. I love this game.

Nigerian scam part 3
Yes the scam from my previous
posts continues..
After sending an email
to Mr Kalu (the scammer) from Mr Mboga (my fake rival scammer),
I then sent Mr Kalu the following concerned mail:

I thought that those two
emails (from Mr Mboga and from myself) would have definately
given the game away. By the end of yesterday I had received
no response, so I figured 'Mr Kalu' had worked out what
was going on. However to my delight I received 2 emails
this morning from Mr Kalu! :-). The first was a response
to Mr Mboga - to my newly created hotmail account:

hahahaha! what an idiot.
Hmmm.. maybe this is just some friend of mine playing me,
while they watch me play them back? I dont think so because
after looking at my weblogs I noticed a hit from the UK
shortly before the original email. Many of these 'nigerian'
scammers actually come from the UK.
Mr Kalu also sent an email
to me:

Who would have thought
i'd get pictures of Mr Kalu! :-). Although one needs to
remember they probably are not the scammer, but some innocent
family instead.. but who knows. Maybe I should send him
some photos of me?
Julian made a suggestion
to include a hidden 1 pixel image in a HTML email to Mr
Kalu with the image hosted on my website so I can get his
IP address. Sounds like a good idea! Now I need to think
of a response...

Nigerian scam continued...
In my previous entry I
wrote about a nigerian scammer who wanted to buy 1,000,000
flashing tshirts to give to Nigerian prisoners and refugee
camps ;-)
So I decided to play around
with him a bit. Here is some correspondence between us.
I write:
Hi there,
Thank you for your enquiry.
I may be able to partially supply your order for 1 million
tshirts, but I am unable to supply the entire amount.
I would like to do business with you
but I need to be convinced that this is a legitimate
offer. So therefore I would prefer to have a much smaller
trial transaction first, before sending all the tshirts.
Maybe 50-100 tshirts as a first order before continuing
with the entire order?
This will cost $40+$10 postage per
tshirt = $50 per tshirt. So for 50 pieces this is $2500.
Is this OK?

Then Lev from work had
a suggestion. Write to Mr Kalu pretending to be another
nigerian scammer upset about Mr Kalu stealing his business..
hehehe.. So I opened a new hotmail account, Lev wrote up
the email (using full capitalisation of course) and I sent
the following email from Mr Mboga to Mr Kalu:
Subject: STOP MESSING WITH
MY CONTACT!!
TO MR.KALU,
I REQUEST YOU TO STOP CONTACTING
MY CORRESPONDENT 'MR.RAY'
IMMEDIATELY!!!
I FOUND HIM FIRST AND ALREADY
GOT SOME INROADS WITH HIM AND MANAGED TO BUILD A DEGREE
OF TRUST I PLAN TO EXPLOIT PROPERLY!
YOUR AMATEUR INTRUSION IS ENDANGERING
MY BUSINESS AND THREATENS MY PLANS REGARDING MR.RAY.
AS I SAID I WAS THERE FIRST SO KEEP OUT!!
I ALREADY RECEIVED 500 DOLLARS
FROM MR.RAY AS A RESULT OF MY PLAN AND I DON'T NEED ANY
AMATEUR LIKE YOU TO SPOIL IT ALL. IN HIS TODAY'S EMAIL
HE MENTIONED YOUR OFFER AND THAT HE SEES IT MORE ATTRACTIVE
THAN MINE AS YOU OFFER HUGE VOLUMES AND READY TO PAY
SOME MONEY FORWARD. I NOTIFIED HIM NOT TO TRUST YOU AND
ONLY DEAL WITH ME. LEAVE MR.RAY ALONE!!!!
